What is the difference between an albergo diffuso and a traditional hotel?
In an albergo diffuso, the rooms do not open onto a hotel corridor: they are located within the houses of the village. The Cena in Piazza is the weekly dinner that brings all guests together in the central piazza of Borgo Vescine, transformed for the evening into a Tuscan market, with stalls, communal tables and traditional local dishes.
It is not a performance staged for guests: it is the moment when the Borgo truly comes together as a village. Guests find themselves sitting beside people they did not know the evening before. This is why we recommend planning a stay that includes this special evening.
What are the dinners in the olive grove?
The dinners in the olive grove are summer evenings served outdoors among the estate’s centuries-old olive trees. A long table is set beneath the branches and the summer night sky, accompanied by live music that transforms the evening into a picture-perfect scene: moments so beautiful they could have been taken from a film.
The cuisine remains the Tuscan cuisine of our restaurants, but here it is brought directly into the landscape that produces it, just a few steps from the trees that provide our olive oil.
Unlike the Friday Cena in Piazza, which brings all guests together, the dinner in the olive grove is a more intimate experience, connected to warm summer evenings and good weather. It is part of the natural rhythm of life at the Borgo, so it is not scheduled far in advance: our reception and concierge teams will let guests know which evenings are planned during their stay.

How many nights do you need for a stay at Borgo Vescine?
We recommend staying for at least three nights. The rhythm of the Borgo unfolds over three days: on the first, guests begin to discover the different moments and rhythms of village life; on the second, they take part in its rituals; and on the third, they can fully enjoy the sense of belonging to such a special place and its community. We strongly recommend planning your stay so that you can take part in the Friday evening Cena in Piazza. Those who stay for just one night see a beautiful hotel; those who stay for three experience a village.
What is the best time of year to visit Borgo Vescine?
Spring, from April to June, brings long days and the countryside in bloom. July and August are filled with the scent of lavender and offer some of the most beautiful sunsets over the Chianti hills. September and October coincide with the grape harvest, while November brings the olive harvest and the first pressing of the season. These are the months when the Borgo is at its busiest and most alive.
Do you need a car to stay at Borgo Vescine?
Yes, a car is recommended. Borgo Vescine is located in the Chianti Classico countryside, 7 km from Radda in Chianti and approximately the same distance from Castellina in Chianti, 25 km from Siena and around 42 km from Florence. Guests arriving by plane or train can arrange a private transfer and organise excursions with a driver. Once you arrive, however, the car can stay parked: life within the Borgo is experienced entirely on foot. For those who wish to explore the surrounding area, vintage cars can also be rented directly at Borgo Vescine for journeys through the Chianti hills.
How much walking is involved within the Borgo? Is it suitable for guests with reduced mobility?
Borgo Vescine is an authentic medieval village: the rooms are reached on foot along stone lanes, with changes in elevation and, in some areas, a few steps. Distances within the Borgo are short, with only a few minutes’ walk from one end of the village to the other. Guests with specific mobility requirements are encouraged to contact us before booking so that we can confirm the availability of our most accessible rooms and arrange assistance with luggage and getting around the Borgo.
What is there to do in the evening at Borgo Vescine?
Evenings begin in the piazza, with an aperitivo at sunset as the lights come on along the streets of the Borgo. Dinner follows at La Terrazza del Borgo, our panoramic restaurant, or at the more informal Bistrot La Torre. During the summer, dinners in the olive grove are also part of the experience. On Fridays, there is only one dinner: the Cena in Piazza, where everyone comes together in the village square. After dinner, guests can visit the wine room or enjoy a drink in the Limonaia. And then there is the sky: there are no lights surrounding the Borgo, and the stars seem close enough to touch.
Is Borgo Vescine suitable for children?
Yes, and for one very specific reason: a traffic-free village is one of the few places where children can move around freely. There is the piazza, the lawns, the olive groves and the panoramic swimming pool. During the summer, we also organise activities dedicated to families. Our rooms and suites vary considerably in size and configuration, so please contact us and we will be happy to recommend the most suitable accommodation for your family or group.
Can Borgo Vescine be booked for exclusive use?
Yes. All 28 rooms can be reserved exclusively, meaning that for the duration of your stay, the Borgo, its piazza, both restaurants and the entire 42-hectare estate are dedicated to one group. Can guests taste and purchase Borgo Vescine products?
Yes. Our extra virgin olive oil is produced from the olive groves on the estate, which is also home to our vineyards. Guests can taste our products during their stay and purchase them from our Bottega or online.
During Your Stay
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 3:00 pm, and check-out is by 11:00 am. Reception is open every day from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm; outside these hours, an emergency contact is always available to our guests. We kindly ask you to let us know your approximate arrival time. At Vescine, welcoming our guests does not happen behind a traditional reception desk, and we like to make sure that every guest receives the best possible welcome. Late check-out is available upon request, subject to availability and at an additional charge.
Is breakfast included?
Breakfast is included when specified in the booked rate and is served in one of the most panoramic areas of the Borgo.

Are there restaurants within the Borgo?
Yes, there are two. La Terrazza del Borgo is our panoramic restaurant, dedicated to a contemporary interpretation of Tuscan cuisine. Bistrot La Torre offers a more informal experience, with traditional dishes and grilled specialities. During the season, dining experiences also include the Friday Cena in Piazza, dinners in the olive grove, sunset aperitivo and poolside service. Reservations are recommended.
Do you organise wine tastings?
Yes, in our wine room. Borgo Vescine is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, and wine is an integral part of the experience: guided tastings, wine-pairing dinners, visits to local wineries and private experiences can all be arranged. Our concierge will be happy to recommend the experience best suited to you.

Is the swimming pool heated?
Yes. Borgo Vescine’s outdoor swimming pool is heated during the season and overlooks the Chianti hills. It is open from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, and pool towels are provided free of charge.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcome upon request; a Borgo surrounded by 42 hectares of land is a wonderful place for a dog. Please let us know before your arrival so that we can prepare the most suitable accommodation. Specific conditions or additional charges may apply depending on the size and number of pets.
Can you accommodate food allergies and special dietary requirements?
Yes. Our kitchen can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free diets, as well as food allergies and intolerances. We kindly ask you to let us know about any dietary requirements before your arrival, so that we can work with the same local ingredients and flavours of our territory while adapting the experience to your needs.

We accept major international credit cards, including Visa and Mastercard. Unless otherwise specified in the conditions of your chosen rate, payment is made at check-out. Cancellation conditions depend on the rate selected. The flexible rate can generally be cancelled free of charge up to 7 days before arrival, while the non-refundable rate is charged at the time of booking and cannot be modified or refunded.
