Il Borgo di Vescine is truly a magical place. Dating back to the 13th century, this hamlet was lovingly restored by Lucia Paladin who put heart and soul with original materials, to give back that true vintage spirit that this rural village is blessed with. Lucia has managed to create that “home away from home” feel in the heart of Chianti. The spectacular views that the Borgo has from its privileged position on top of the hill, is a magical event in itself. Our guests can see the stunning scenery from the windows from the quaint, old rooms, just like the people had the previous centuries. Il Borgo di Vescine sits on top of a majestic green hill, 600 metres above sea level and faces Radda in Chianti, a gorgeous medieval town. This authentic example of Tuscan history right across from the Borgo, is surrounded by the most beautiful greenery and is a magical sight. The vineyards and centuries old olive groves that surrounds the Borgo are sitting on old stone held terraces that are now Unesco protected wonders. Just like the old farmers did for centuries, these terraces are man made and were left were by the last inhabitants nearly a century ago.The joyful singing of swallows, is the perfect wake up call for our guests. The smell of lavender and the many colours of our flowers is our daily wakening. The butterflies in in summer are an absolute feel-good factor in the borgo. Walk around nature or relax in our pool and its suspended terrace where you feel immersed in nature. The “aperitivo” is a time of gathering. It is served in the main piazza where the guests at the Borgo will feel like the local villagers did many, many years ago. After the Aperitivo the guests are welcome to have dinner at the Terrazza del Borgo. Our restaurant amongst the gorgeous Olive trees. Your summer evenings will never be the same after this experience. All you’ll hear is the sound of deer from the faraway valley while having a candlelit dinner. We all love our Borgo and are proud and honoured to share with you all its secrets. Bruno, our farmer, will take you through secluded paths and tracks to find the perfect sweeping views. He will tell you shrouded stories of our olive trees and maybe, he will ask you to help pick the olives with him.
Stefano, the Borgo’s director, will make sure that your stay with us will be an unforgettable experience. He will welcome you with open arms and guide you through the best Tuscan adventures. From a visit of Florence, Pisa and Siena, to touring the Chianti hills with a classic Alfa Romeo vintage convertible. From visiting the world’s oldest cellars, to a hot air balloon flight. Stefano can advise on the best event for you. Marco, our sommelier can advise you on our best wines made in our very own hills to be combined with the best dishes of the Chianti tradition.
